中共中央政治局7月30日举行集体学习，中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平在主持学习时强调，要坚定决心意志，增强紧迫意识，埋头苦干实干，确保如期实现建军一百年奋斗目标。他指出，回顾党的百年奋斗历程，坚持党指挥枪、建设自己的人民军队，是党在血与火的斗争中得出的重大结论。

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has called for resolute will and determination to work hard in a down-to-earth way to achieve the goals set for the centenary of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), made the remarks on July 30 when addressing a group study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Reviewing the CPC's endeavor over the past 100 years, Xi stressed that "the Party commands the gun" and building people's armed forces are vital conclusions made through fierce struggles.

党的十九大把“坚持党对人民军队的绝对领导”上升为新时代坚持和发展中国特色社会主义的一条基本方略，党的十九届四中全会进一步明确：“坚持和完善党对人民军队的绝对领导制度，确保人民军队忠实履行新时代使命任务。”

新的征程上，我们必须全面贯彻新时代党的强军思想，贯彻新时代军事战略方针，坚持党对人民军队的绝对领导，坚持走中国特色强军之路，全面推进政治建军、改革强军、科技强军、人才强军、依法治军，把人民军队建设成为世界一流军队，以更强大的能力、更可靠的手段捍卫国家主权、安全、发展利益！

On the journey ahead, we must fully implement the Party’s thinking on strengthening the military in the new era as well as our military strategy for the new era, maintain the Party’s absolute leadership over the people’s armed forces, and follow a Chinese path to military development. We will take comprehensive measures to enhance the political loyalty of the armed forces, to strengthen them through reform and technology and the training of competent personnel, and to run them in accordance with the law. We will elevate our people’s armed forces to world-class standards so that we are equipped with greater capacity and more reliable means for safeguarding our national sovereignty, security, and development interests.
