2021年是中国共产党成立100周年。100年来，中国共产党团结带领中国人民，以“为有牺牲多壮志，敢教日月换新天”的大无畏气概，书写了中华民族历史上最恢宏的史诗。中国共产党和中国人民以英勇顽强的奋斗向世界庄严宣告，中华民族迎来了从站起来、富起来到强起来的伟大飞跃，实现中华民族伟大复兴进入了不可逆转的历史进程。在“两个一百年”的历史交会点上，聚焦中国共产党矢志不渝为人民谋幸福、为民族谋复兴、为世界谋大同的新时代伟大实践，向世界讲好中国故事和中国共产党的故事，具有深刻的历史和现实意义。
这本由中国外文局所属中国画报出版社与中国日报社合作的《百名摄影师聚焦新时代》中英文画册，以图片记录新时代、歌颂新时代，作为“百名摄影师聚焦”系列的延续，紧贴时代脉搏，解读时代精神，在众多主题出版物中格外引人注目。画册收录的200多名全国一流摄影师的近300幅作品，以一个个珍贵瞬间，全面展现了党的十八大以来，以习近平同志为核心的党中央带领全国各族人民在各领域取得的辉煌成就，反映了我国综合实力、国际影响力和人民获得感的显著提升。图片题材广泛、构图精巧、色彩讲究，体现了很高的摄影水准，兼具政治性、艺术性、资料性，是庆祝建党百年的又一精品力作。
当前，中国外文局正在深入贯彻落实习近平总书记关于加强和改进国际传播工作的重要讲话以及致外文局成立70周年贺信精神，加快推进世界一流、具有强大综合实力的国际传播机构建设。我们围绕庆祝建党百年重大主题，精心实施“百年百本”工程，推出了包括《百名摄影师聚焦新时代》中英文画册在内的100种多语种主题图书，为党的百年华诞献礼。面对新时代赋予的新使命，我们将着力突出特色优势，提升国际传播能力，奋力在构建具有鲜明中国特色的战略传播体系和多主体、立体式大外宣格局中发挥更大作用。
在移动阅读时代，图片的信息载体功能进一步突显，在增强国际传播亲和力和实效性方面发挥着独特作用。希望中国画报出版社继续彰显国家级画报画册出版机构的品牌优势，努力在建设国家视觉话语体系和图片叙事体系中有所作为。我们也期待与中国日报社深化国际传播合作，携手推出更多贴近不同区域、不同国家、不同群体受众的优秀作品，为更好塑造可信、可爱、可敬的中国形象作出更大贡献。
The year 2021 marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Over the past 100 years, the Party has united and led the Chinese people in writing the most magnificent chapter in the millennia-long history of the Chinese nation that embodies the spirit Mao Zedong expressed when he wrote, “our minds grow stronger for the martyrs’ sacrifice, daring to make the sun and moon shine a new sky”. Through tenacious struggles, the Party and the Chinese people have showed the world that the Chinese nation has achieved a tremendous transformation - from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong - and that China’s national rejuvenation has become a historical inevitability. It is of great significance, historic and immediate, in telling China stories and CPC stories well at this historic intersection of achieving the country’s two centenary goals by focusing on the Party’s efforts in seeking happiness for the Chinese people, rejuvenation for the Chinese nation and common good for the world.
The 100 Photographers Focus on New Era, jointly published by China Pictorial Press, an organization under the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, and China Daily, records and eulogizes the new era in Chinese and English. One of a series of publications of The 100 Photographers Focus, it is in the spotlight among many titles in keeping up and interpreting the pulse of the times. It has about 300 photos from over 200 photographers recording precious moments and achievements of the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core since the 18th CPC National Congress. The photos are of extensive subjects, elaborate composition and exquisite colors to mirror the significant rise of China’s national power, its global impact and people’s sense of gain.
The China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration is committed to building world-class and comprehensive international communication by thoroughly implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and his congratulatory letter on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the administration. To celebrate the CPC’s centenary this year, the administration will publish more than 100 CPC-themed books in different languages to fulfill its mission in the new era and improve its global communication.
The photo format has become popular in the time of mobile reading and has a unique affinity and effect in global communication. It is sincerely hoped that China Pictorial Press continues to make use of its brand advantage in building the country’s visual discourse and photo narrative systems. We would like to explore further collaboration with China Daily to launch excellent books that are appealing to different regions, countries and audiences, and to make a greater contribution in creating the China image of credibility, love and respect.
