Public health security is a common challenge facing all countries, and COVID-19 is the common enemy of all mankind. Almost 200 countries and regions are battling hard against the pandemic.
At the G20 Extraordinary Leaders' Summit on COVID-19 last Thursday, President Xi Jinping called on the international community to strengthen confidence, act with unity and work together in a collective response against COVID-19.
Solidarity and cooperation are the most powerful weapons to fight the virus, and the only effective course of action. At this critical moment, it is more urgent than ever to recognize that "we are all together", including the critical role that universities play around the world.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Tsinghua University has been closely monitoring the health of all students, faculty and staff. Strict prevention and control measures have been implemented across the campus, in line with the government's response plan.
Tsinghua is the first university to transfer all courses online. On February 17, the spring semester commenced online, on time and on schedule; and more than 3,900 courses were launched. Students conducted academic discussions, defended their theses, and participated in a joint recruitment session for interviews and job matching.

Currently, more than 1,600 Tsinghua teachers and students are still in Hubei Province, and more than 3,000 in various places across the world.

3月2日，习近平主席来到清华考察疫情防控科研攻关工作。他强调“要坚持向科学要答案、要方法”。
On March 2, President Xi visited Tsinghua University and emphasized the importance of scientific research in the battle against the pandemic. He stressed that "we must insist on asking for answers and methods from science".
Tsinghua has made breakthroughs on antibody and vaccine research, and developed a test kit for fast and accurate diagnosis. In addition, we have provided open access to Tsinghua's drug discovery resources and platforms for global researchers.

Tsinghua has shouldered additional responsibilities by expanding its social and international engagement.
Our affiliated hospitals have dispatched more than 100 medical workers to hospitals and quarantine zones in Wuhan and Beijing. The university has shared online clone courses with five universities in Wuhan and other areas. Almost 2,000 Massive Open Online Courses are openly available to the general public.
Over the past few weeks, Tsinghua has communicated with global partners, updating them on developments and received nearly 80 replies, including those from Harvard University, Politecnico di Milano and Waseda University. They expressed their concerns, support and good wishes.

For example, Tsinghua convened an online forum entitled "Universities combating COVID-19" last Friday where 15 university representatives shared their experiences and response to the crisis, and explored collaborative efforts.
